About us
Our farmhouse and entailed estate Ebnerhof is a traditional farm that has been owned by our family, the Schmidhammers, since 1784. In 1986, we were awarded the so-called “Erbhofurkunde”, a document that displays and proves the estate’s status. The premises consist of our meadows, fields, a part of the wood, tool sheds, various stables, a mill and a small chapel. Recently, the newly built chalet has become a part of the estate.
The Chalet
Our new chalet was built in the place of the old shed. The timber for it was taken from our own wood on the premises. Modern comfort and traditional elements have thereby merged into a unique symbiosis, creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
Sustainability
As sustainability was indeed vital for us, the chalet is heated with help of a wood chip heating system run on logs from our own wood. We built the chalet according to the latest energy standards and it has therefore been assigned a certificate designated for climate houses (Klimahauszertifikat).
Life on a farm
Our farm is surrounded by apple orchards that are cultivated all year round. Next to the farm house there is a big meadow used for sheep grazing. On the farm, we keep hens, bees, cats and our farm dog Laika.

Rates and prices
This rate refers to the occupancy of the holiday home PER NIGHT and PER TWO PEOPLE. There is an additional communal tax/ tourist tax of 2,30 cent per person and day (not for children until 14 years.) The house is reserved for you as soon as the deposit of 100 Euro is made.

Pets are welcome, but there is an additional fee of 15 Euro per day and per pet (without food). A baby cot, a changing pad for babies and a high chair for children is available on request. You can also order freshly baked bread for breakfast.
There is a no-smoking policy for our chalet
Check- in time: the chalet is available from 2 pm on the arrival day.
Check- out time: please leave the apartment before 10 am on your departure day
Payment: Must be done in cash as the farm is not part of a credit card system
Cancellation policy/ no-show
Without fee- until three months prior to the arrival date
From three months to two weeks prior the arrival date, the deposit of 100 Euro will not be refunded
From two weeks until the arrival date 90 % of the full price will be charged.
The complete price will be charged if you have to leave early.

Saltaus and surroundings
The small village of Saltaus is a part of the bigger St. Martin at the entrance of the Passeier valley. It is only a twenty minutes-drive away from the spa town of Meran. Due to its aerial tram Hirzer, Saltaus has become a starting point for trekking routes of various grades of difficulty. A few minutes on foot from the village there is the river Passer along which you can easily walk or go by bike to Meran or St. Leonhard.

Meran- a historical spa town
Meran is located only a 20- minute drive from Saltaus. Due to its mild and Mediterranean climate Meran has been popular for decades. The town is famous for its medieval arcades (the so-called Lauben/ portico) as well as its famous spa bath, the Thermen, and the castle of the gardens of Trauttmansdorff.

The Passeier Museum (Andreas- Hofer museum)
This modern museum is dedicated to the South Tyrolean patriot and popular hero Andreas Hofer- indeed, it is located in his birth place. Next to various items and exhibits there are also some interactive approaches that depict the rural side of the Passeier valley. Ideal for a bad weather day, it is a good way to get to know Passeier‘s history and culture.

Der Passerschlucht-Weg- The “Passerschlucht”- path
Starting in St Leonhard, this path enables trekkers to reach the centre of the village Moos in three hours. Manageable for everyone, it shows in a remarkable way how beautiful the power of water can form rocks and define the landscape.

Pfelders- the family-friendly ski resort and hiking paradise
A one- hour car drive away, the picturesque village Pfelders, a family friendly ski resort, offers an ice rink, a toboggan run, a cross country track and a children’s ski lift. Thanks to an innovative mobility concept, it can be experienced without car traffic, as there are shuttles that take you to its centre. Not only children can enjoy this special place, also adults can experience its idyllic and romantic hiking trails and the steep downhill piste for experienced skiers. The place is also worth visiting during summer time.
